Awards

LAAHU is fortunate to continue to excel in education, advocacy and professionalism based on the individual and collective contributions of its members. As part of the Awards committee, you can help us take pride in honoring and recognizing our members and chapter activities! 

Awards play an important role – to set forth best management practices and challenges for both the chapter and individual members. Chapters that win National and State awards experience chapter growth, stability and improved member satisfaction. Individuals that win National and State awards are spurred on to even greater personal achievement. LAAHU uses the NAHU Pacesetter Award criteria in our annual strategic planning meeting to set in motion proven action plans, leading our chapter to continued strength, stability and responsiveness to member needs.

Continuing Education Committee

You will help to identify current topics of interest, develop content and to promote the continuing education programs made available through LAAHU.

Communications

As part of the communications committee, your job will be to spread the word about the work being done by LAAHU. You’ll have the opportunity to work on everything from email blasts to flyers to our award-winning quarterly publication, LAAHU Times. If you have a good working knowledge of the industry and a flair for writing there may be no better place to showcase your talents.
 

Legislation

As part of the LAAHU legislation committee, you have an opportunity to make a real difference in the laws that govern our industry. LAAHU will provide you with the tools to become a valued expert, and somebody who your elected officials rely upon as they decide how to vote on healthcare reform issues. This is an ideal fit for members who currently have or would like to develop a working relationship with their members of the State Assembly or Congress.

Marketing

Be a part of a team that develops the creative tools needed to enhance the image of the insurance professional. The Marketing Committee is responsible for building the experience for our events, assisting with increased growth and retention and promoting the value LAAHU delivers to its members.

Media Relations

his is a good opportunity to use your public relations expertise when you represent LAAHU in working with local media to help get our message out to the public. The Media Relations Committee is in charge of encouraging and assisting LAAHU members with all aspects of media relations, including writing press releases, developing media lists and pitching stories to their local media.

Membership

The Membership Committee works to recruit, welcome, and retain LAAHU members. Committee members enjoy the high level of interaction with their insurance peers and derive satisfaction in helping others make best use of our association’s resources.

Political Action Committee

At the core of any grassroots organization is its ability to show strength through numbers by raising money to further its cause. As part of the PAC, you will be instrumental in helping LAAHU raise the funds necessary to work within Sacramento’s political landscape. We encourage you to help grow the Political Action Committee and then work with us in deciding where we should direct expenditures.

Professional Development

In an industry that requires continuing education, LAAHU rises to the challenge by offering plethora of CE opportunities. Professional development through education is at the cornerstone of what LAAHU brings to its members. As a member of this committee, you will be instrumental in helping coordinate and administer CE credit.Programs
Programs play a vital role in the LAAHU membership experience. LAAHU has distinguished itself as being an innovator in offering programs that appeal to our diverse membership. Whether it’s a breakfast meeting or Holiday social, as a member of this team, your chief responsibilities will be to plan, coordinate and execute meetings that increase the value of being a LAAHU member.
 

Public Affairs

As the LAAHU Public Affairs Committee, our commitment is to our members, their clients and the public in providing clear and concise information on healthcare issues. It is our responsibility to present timely, factual information. In addition, the Public Affairs Committee has a Speaker’s Bureau that is available to discuss a broad spectrum of healthcare topics.
 

Public Service

The Public Service Chair and committee would like to maintain our active presence in the community by developing programs like: 1. Conduct special healthcare education projects using literature and/or films among local industries. 2. Assist civic clubs, church groups, schools, and professional groups. 3. Organize a health check-up program for the community. 4. Establish an academic scholarship fund. 5. Form transportation and equipment delivery brigades for the needy and their families. 6. Develop training programs for fund drives.

Want to raise the bar on industry events and separate LAAHU from the crowd? We have just the ticket. Become a part of the committee that’s all about creating memorable experiences for our attendees. LAAHU is known for its innovative University Day, Fashion Show, and Golf Tournament. These events are very successful because of people (like you) who work hard behind the scenes to create a unique and fun experience for all.
